Every day, Watch This offers staff recommendations inspired by a new movie coming out that week. She praised writer/director Nacho Vigalondo's "audacity" in being able to create "urgency and disorientation from the thinnest of air" despite the film's low budget and lack of special effects. She’s then forced by this man to go into the woods and take off her clothes. Clara shows up there scared because she’s just seen Héctor 2 (the bandaged man) break into their house. When Héctor 2 gets back, the girl is missing. Enjoy :-). Héctor 2 does this because this is what makes Héctor 1 get into the tank. Sorry, this post was deleted by the person who originally posted it. Here are links to the key aspects of the movie: The first thing that we need to understand is that there is only one timeline. I agree OP. Butterfly Effect is a much better time travel film imo. But outside of that, we can only assume from what we are given from the movie that the answer is a resounding no. Contact with one’s self does nothing – no event horizon, no end of world chaos, nada. She freaks out, calls the cops, heads to the basement to hide. He also sees a coat by the dustbin and wears it. BEAT me.

But what I didn’t grasp was that I’d only figured out a third of the movie. El also admits that there is a Héctor 3 and he had told him to prevent Héctor 2 from going back in time. He removes the bandage from his arm and puts it on his head. The Time Machine required 4 specific power modules to work and some undescribed liquid.

Despite the scientist's warning, Héctor 2 drives off in a car, passing a cyclist, only to be run off the road by a van, cutting his head, which he wraps using the bandage from his arm wound.

The film premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, in September 2007. Héctor 2 explains that something has gone wrong terribly and that he needs to go back in time to correct it.

If after watching "Timecrimes" you have the strangest feeling that you have seen some of these problems explored before, you are (a) merely experiencing deja vu, which is the low-cost and safe alternative to time travel, or (b) remembering Shane Carruth's splendid "Primer" (2004), which, if it didn't drive you nuts, "Timecrimes" will, or has, or vice versa. Where did H3f go??? In both instances, he lands in the same timeline. They become separated. Like the best sci-fi movies, Timecrimes has plenty to say about the here and now. As you might imagine, "Timecrimes" is not a character study. Sometimes I enjoy that, in the same way I enjoy chess -- and that's a compliment. It's funny that I seem to see a fair number of positive references to Butterfly Effect on Reddit- I always avoided it because I figured it would suck (not a Kutcher fan). But that’s ok, because the original is definitely better than anything that a U.S. studio will be able to pull together. He takes Clara to the lawn and sits besides her. Héctor 2 remembers that this is how the bandaged man looked at him and is simply recreating the events. but no one knows where hector 2 came from to lure hector 1 into the time machine in the beginning; unless we believe that the hector 2 that lured hector 1 into the woods is not actually hector 2 but rather another person; a stranger and /or a rapist who gets into the accident, gets bandaged, attacks the girl and creates the events that lure hector 1 into the woods and later this stranger’s roles and actions are replaced by hector 2 when hector 1 gets into the machine and has to create what he has seen… anyways I believe the movie was well made but there is a flaw in the origin of the story.

He stays in hiding from Héctor 2 and Héctor 1. I couldn't have, that's how, so that means I couldn't walk into the room and I would continue writing the review just as I am now, which means the paradox would be solved because nothing happened, which, as nearly as I can tell, would be positive proof that time travel exists. If you could go back in time today and hurt yourself 5 years ago, it would be the same idea.

However, when I watched it again recently it didn't hold up nearly as well for me. El has no clue what’s going on. In the background, we can hear Héctor 2 trying to stop the girl from going to the roof thinking it’s Clara. Hector luring himself became the event. hahha. But throughout a lot of this movie, Hector seems to believe that he needs to do what his future (past?) Inside the house, Héctor 3 sees the girl who indicates that the bandaged man is coming up the stairs. Why is a totally different question than what. Héctor 3 exits 30 – 40 seconds before Héctor 2. The plot, an ingeniously elaborate time-travel farce, commences when married everyman Héctor (Karra Elejalde) spots a young woman undressing in the woods surrounding his home. But looking past the twisty architecture of its story, Timecrimes is also a stealth infidelity parable. 12 Monkeys 3. A Héctor with a badly bruised face. Héctor 1 picks up the phone.

Learn how your comment data is processed. But there hasn’t been any confirmed movement on the script in the last couple of years. If he destroys it, he can stop El from getting the message from Héctor 3. If so, haven’t watched it in a little bit, but I seem to remember it was Hector2 that was run off the road and bandaged their head. El also says that all they had to do was wait for about an hour and a half when Héctor 1 will eventually enter the time machine and disappear. Taylor. Now our H2og is the bandage man, ran off road by H3f, and forces H1new into the time machine, effectively creating another new H1(H1n2), turning H1new into H2new, and turning himself into H3og…. He sees the bandaged man. This is all done in an ingenious and entertaining way. (Primer-esque) 2. He’s simply maintaining the integrity of time because El already mentions receiving a call from Héctor 3 (only one set of events). Scientist curiosity. Timecrimes and predestination are great movies for time travel entertainment but they don’t hold up under any logical scrutiny. Directed by Nacho Vigalondo.

I’ve never had a single person other than myself post here, but I’ll let you do it! When she returns she probably finds Héctor missing.

El prepares the time machine because he knows that Héctor 1 will eventually show up after sundown. Oh holy cow. I think overall TimeCrimes is a really quite good time travel movie because it holds up in the end. I’d be interested to hear what you thought happened at the end of the movie, and whether Hector3 would then continue his life in a linear fashion, while the other Hectors are stuck in a self-correcting time loop, and consigned to history. Clara hears a girl fall and is about to go check.

Héctor 2 takes the girl into the forest by force. It is very confusing :) If Hector1 started to live events how come Hector2 takes place and stab him? Timecrimes (2007). Just saying.

The story continues to loop back on itself, and the events hold up the deeper you go. Héctor 1 is looking at the forest by his house with his binoculars and catches a glimpse of a girl. I think what most people are logically trying to figure out is how this whole thing started? Héctor 2 goes after her and knocks her unconscious by mistake.

You might not remember what you looked like 10-20 years ago, but the first/early images of the person you fall in love with, fades harder from memory. As he approaches the girl, a man in a coat and red bandages on his face stabs Héctor 1 in the arm from behind. Was there originally a rapist attacking a woman in the woods who lured Hector1 into the time machine ? Timecrimes was a film recommended by my mate who studied film at uni it took be forever to watch this film but eventually got round to it about 6 months ago. This is an awesome comment.

Héctor 2 enters the tank. Héctor 3 runs into the girl who is running away after she has gained consciousness. hahaha. Héctor 2 carries the girl back to the spot and begins to take off the rest of her clothing.

we don’t know. Héctor 1 says that a man in bandages is trying to kill him. Is there anyway the time machine operator was a younger version of Hector that somehow met a future hector that time traveled from the past and then sent young hector to the future along with his wife who became the young woman. He travels back in time and exits as Héctor 3. How the timeline snuggly fits together.

A lot of this confusion centered around the young woman… who she was, how many times did she die? But regardless, here is my top 20. http://taylorholmes.com/2015/10/05/the-20-best-time-travel-movies-ever/, My top three from that list were: 1. He finds a van and runs Héctor 2 off the road, but crashes as well, knocking himself out. You see, the person on the roof was never Clara. Héctor 3 picks up the walkie-talkie and talks to El. who calls hector 1 from the lab when he has not even time travelled? She’s asked to head to the roof. The girl has seen his car fall down the slope and she, being the kind person she is, comes to help. That is when the movie begins to take off, because the machine is actually a time machine, and the machine has just sent Hector backwards in time about an hour. Working to fix it. hahah.

Looping back on itself over and over again, the pretzel-shaped Spanish thriller Timecrimes is a movie for anyone whose mind was blown by the revelation that Skynet created Skynet.

He lays her out naked on the ground and then stabs Hector 1 in the arm when he arrives. Notice he didn’t say 12 Monkeys the television show, which is a completely different answer entirely. And now, this is where we really learn exactly what happened.

This is our chronological walk through from beginning to end of the events. Héctor 2 wraps his face with the bandage. El explains to Héctor 2 that he has just traveled through time.
