Completely different situations. You pay taxes based on where you play your games.

Yelich led the Brewers to the postseason in 2018, the club's first playoff appearance since 2011, where they were ousted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games during the NL Championship Series. I don’t think they are worried about luxury tax at all. It’s hard to say Yelich left money on the table. True, but with good conditioning (or good luck), some players can stay extremely productive well past 30. Considering that they got him for practically nothing, they could’ve afforded to pay even more or extended the term. Hit free agency at 31 years old. Looks like a win-win. He puts up more mvp type of years and then he is out of Brewers price range. Yelich padding his bank account 200M is a no-brainer, unless he’s super greedy or has a massive ego! And he’s absolutely NOT worth $20M now or ever. Or is there a different way we ought to view this pact? Cardinals are paying Molina because he’s the face of the franchise bud and because he was outperformed his last contract. This is the kind of money that can set your family beyond your grandkids. Because the Brewers may be 4 months away from starting a rebuild.

As for the Brewers, obviously there is risk involved, but that’s true of any big contract given out, and Yelich is a great player who has the possibility of producing for the entire length of the extension, so its a good risk to take.

The nine-year deal is expected to be for nine years and worth approximately $215 million. Take the money today, enjoy it. Milwaukee will be paying Christian Yelich until 2042, when the All-Star outfielder is 50 years old. The 2022 option may not be guaranteed but at $15m, ($13.75 over the buyout) Yelich would have to have experienced quite the collapse for the Brewers not to exercise it. And if he does not put up more mvp type of years then the Brewers overpaid. But that security, plus playing for an organization he apparently likes playing for was more valuable to him than testing the open market. Look what happened with Braun though he really hasn’t been a superstar for several years now (might have to do with not using PED’s anymore). If not with this CBA, the NL will have the DH with the next one.

Probably thats The point of view of the Yelich side! If he was a Cole like pitcher, he would have gotten a bigger contract if he hit the FA. He found his true potential when he came to Milwaukee and has averaged 40 long balls the last two seasons. So the first option would be to spend. This one is big, but it’s not an outsized portion of their overall revenue picture. In 2018, he will earn a base salary of $7,000,000. The closer a player gets to free agency, the likelier they test the waters. I never blame the player for taking the money earlier even if theoretically he could make more in the long run. Playoffs last 2 years with what everyone still says were pitching staffs that couldn’t get them there. Not to say that this makes it a bad deal for the team necessarily, but it’s at least less good when considered from this more accurate perspective. Which would be right in line with Yelich’s last two years. The Crew is really banking on him to keep this production up for 5-7 years. The question should be are the Brewers capable of building around him.

#ThisIsMyCrew https://t.co/F4txNVasDE, He’s signed a lot of autographs in his career, but we’d venture to say this one is probably the most valuable. The DH must be coming. Minter In Game 5 Of NLCS, Blue Jays Notes: Bichette, Shoemaker, Vlad, How To Set Up Notifications For Breaking News. Brewers aren’t willing to spend $200-mil to win or stack talent around Yelich, so why bother extending him when trading him would bring back a massive return. This? The Brewers announced Yelich's new contract on Friday: 2018 NL MVP and two-time reigning NL batting champion @ChristianYelich has officially agreed to a 9-year contract through the 2028 season with a mutual option for 2029. Yelich surely would’ve cleared well past $200 if he entered the market. We’ll presume it’s completed for purposes of this post. Guess the Angels still think Pujols is in his prime at age 40 so they are paying him 25 million and plan to pay him 25 million for his age 41 season. They might of tore up the old contract and old option but unless he was hurt or suspended or something crazy that 15 million option was going to be used. That may be semantically correct, it’s just not a very useful way to look at it, imo. They’re paying under market value for a player of Yelich’s caliber, which they needed to do as a small-market club. In a roundabout way, Christian Yelich will be a Milwaukee Brewer until 2042. Kinda informs on the mindset and attitudinal differences between Yelich and Betts!!

.

Good response. As I said below, I think he gave them a slight discount, all things considered, but it’s not exactly a terrible deal for him. The most direct comparable, perhaps, is the early 2018 deal reached between the Astros and Jose Altuve when he was still two years away from the open market. © Copyright 2020 Endgame360 Inc. All Rights Reserved. Even disregarding the entirely different contexts created by their age/existing contracts, Betts and Yelich are not the same. It’s a great deal for the Brewers. Christian Yelich annual salary and 2020 game logs.baseball stats with geme batting ,pitching stats. None of the 28-year-old's $12.5 million salary for 2020 and $14 million for '21—the same amount as what was set to be guaranteed from the $49.6 million contract he signed in March 2015 as a member of the Miami Marlins—will be deferred. @ScottMillerBbl breaks down how Tampa Bay continues meltdown as Houston rides comeback momentum, The deal includes a $20 million mutual option for 2029 with a $6.5 million buyout, and $2 million of the buyout would be deferred. Anyways it’s a win win for both parties nobody is going to complain about getting nearly $200 million guaranteed for the next 7-10 years. But position players are challenged quite a bit in their 30s.

But the Brewers obviously felt now was the time to act if they were going to keep him around at a palatable price tag. Even if the offer was truly overwhelming, why can’t he prefer to choose his own place of employment? This contract isn’t that bad should they need to trade it in a couple years anyways. They don’t want to spend 150 million let alone over 200. Its an additional 7 years after his 2 currently guaranteed years. As if what he was doing was philanthropic or for the greater good. Betts is just a tough customer. $30AAV is min market. Stephen Strasburg 7years 245million. Any superstar that signs a huge money contact which includes taking them pass their prime years have a great set up because they are guaranteed the massive paycheck no matter what they do or what happens to their health. Angels? Why not sign the superstar now? When looked at from that angle, the Brewers are paying almost a $30m AAV, 3 years in advance for Yelich’s age 31-36 seasons. Sure, he might have got more on the open market in 2 years. He’ll be entering his age 31 season at that point. Or when he is 30 his production could fall off and be a 250/350/480 guy with 20 plus homers and 80 plus RBIs and stay around those numbers for the remainder of the contract. David Stearns is one of the best gm’s in baseball and may be the best. Any smart person would take that kind of money, especially if it’s a place you’re comfortable with! Brewers lock up a premium talent and a player fans want to see. They are loaded at infield depth and Peralta is going to have a huge year I think. The 28-year-old Yelich was already under team control for three remaining seasons under the prior extension he inked as a member of the Marlins, so there wasn’t a huge rush. Don’t see too many super long deals like this from NL clubs. Fire Stearns! Thoughts? Absolute bargain. If Yelich can keep it up it will be a good deal. While a $27 million annual salary is obviously a ton of money that most people will never see, the Milwaukee Brewers are actually getting themselves quite a bargain in Christian Yelich.

Guess the Yankees thought Giancarlo Stantons past injury history would disappear when they took on his 25 million a year contract. Ridiculous argument. Just because they don’t or can’t sign the Strasburg or Scherzers of the world doesn’t mean they can’t compete. They picked up comparable talent. Unfortunately it is for most. Yelich has the $12.5 million and $14 million salaries for 2020 and '21 from his former contract, and he will then earn $26 million per season from 2022-28. So I say win for both.

Usually turns out that they regress, perhaps a lack of motivation is likely from players when locked in to guaranteed money. Yelich's adjusted salary with the Milwaukee Brewers is $4,629,630 The previous record belongs to former NL MVP and six-time All-Star Ryan Braun, who previously signed a five-year/$105 million deal. Christian Yelich, Brewers agree to long-term extension worth more than $200 million ... His salary could jump to $10 million in 2021 and the Brewers may not … Waited for what? Also, she is the mother of a famous MLB star Christian Yelich whose net worth is assumed to be around $13 million. Yelich gets paid pretty well, he gets security. Just ask the Dodgers and the Yankees. In 2020, Yelich will earn a base salary of $12,500,000, while carrying a total salary of $12,500,000. If they had prospects to bring up or deal and surround Yelich and company I could understand the way-too-long extension. On the player side, it’s hard to resist the temptation of a potential future bonanza. They won’t have any money left to pay the Brockstar, so he’ll hafta return to Boston! MLBTR can’t even be clear on the numbers. But time will ultimately tell.
